Trex Enhance Decking

Trex's Enhance collection is divided into two categories: the Basics collection has boards with consistent solid colors, and the Naturals collection features streaked, multi-colored boards. Both versions have the same texture and scalloped underside.

Decking Fasteners

  • Non-grooved Enhance decking boards can be secured with Trapease screws, Camo edge screws, or Cortex screws and plugs provided that they are pre-drilled correctly.

  • Grooved Enhance deck boards can be installed with Trex Universal Hidden Fastener clips, Camo Edge Clips, Tiger Claw clips, or Camo Wedge clips. If working with the first or last grooved board in a layout, Cortex are recommended for those boards because clips won't work unless it's installed between two grooved boards.

  • When joists are installed 16" on center, multiply the linear footage of the decking by 1.5 to get the quantity of screws needed, or multiply the linear footage by 0.75 to get the number of hidden clips needed.

Enhance Fascia and Fasteners

  • Fascia boards are a wider, thin non-structural board used to cover deck framing, and are typically fastened with wide-head Deckfast fascia screws.
  • For 12" wide fascia, fascia screws should be pre-drilled and installed with 3 screws every 16"
  • To figure the number of fascia screws needed for fascia, multiple the linear footage of fascia by 2.25
  • For 8" wide risers, fascia screws should be pre-drilled and installed with 2 screws at every point where the riser and stringer cross.

Extra Parts and Tools

  • Router bits can be used if a groove is desired on one side of a deck board for the border
  • Fascia screw drill bits are used for making sure the screw can sit in a recessed hole and sit flush with the face of the material
  • Pro Plug Bits are used to screw Pro Plug decking screws in to the correct depth, to allow the plug to be placed over the screw
  • Depth-setting bits are used to install decking face screws to the correct depth quickly and consistently
  • Pro Plug Fascia bits are used to pre-drill and accurately set the depth of a Starborn Deckfast fascia screw. Because fascia screw heads are wider than decking screw heads, both the hole and plug for fascia Pro Plugs will also be larger.
