Collection: Color Matched Face Screws for Decking
When fastening decking, you may choose to use standard face screws for their low price and simple installation. Color-matched screws have a coated head, which is selected to match the decking color they're installed on.
Composite decking requires a specific fastener with reverse threads near the head for material compression, and a semi-cylindrical head that cleanly cuts through the plastic cap on the decking. These features ensure that the fastener self-drills a clean hole for the screw to countersink itself, and doesn't cause mushrooming around the screw from material compression.
PVC decking is a little more forgiving, and can be face-screwed with a composite screw or a trim head screw. Because PVC decking cam compress more than composite, a screw with reverse threads is not needed, and a standard trim head can be used and will still create a clean countersink with no swelling around the screw head.
