Ultralox and Impressions Express panels have hidden brackets inside the top and bottom rails that are covered by a top or bottom snap. Top snaps can be difficult to remove or get completely snapped on, especially on stair rails.
When removing a top snap, a rubber mallet can be used by tapping on one of the bottom edges of the snap. For more leverage, you can also use a screwdriver inserted into the end opening between the rail channel and snap and gently prying upwards. Be sure not to insert the screwdriver inside the top snap profile, or you will dent the top surface of the snap.
When installing a top snap, pushing it on the last 1/8" takes some effort, and you'll hear a definitive "click" once it's completely on. We ship all our panels with 1-1/2" screws which can be screwed up from the underside of the channel, and will both pull the snap on all the way and hold it on. Watch the video about this here (link).
